BaseStack to open first gaming and training centre

May 6, 2021 | Media Centre

BaseStack has revealed plans to make its esports debut by opening its first gaming centre and residential training camp in Poland in June.

Social and professional gamers will get the ultimate experience at the venue in Łódź, Poland’s third largest city.

More than 120 pro class rigs with unlimited titles will be available for Arena play, Bootcamp training, Battle Arena tournaments and the BaseStack league. Players can book VIP rooms for intensive team practice and private events, or multimedia facilities to develop streaming and shoutcasting skills.

With connectivity and community at the heart of the BaseStack experience, gamers can also take part in an extensive calendar of events both in venue and online.

The Łódź gaming centre will be the first of an extensive rollout planned for cities across Europe, in line with student accommodation parent company BaseCamp. Launching in Summer 2021, BaseStack residential training camps will be a core part of this expansion strategy, with access to BaseCamp accommodation available to players.

The facilities at BaseStack Łódź will be used to deliver daily workshops led by experienced coaches. Taking a holistic approach to training, each day will have a different focus, from teamwork, leadership and strategic thinking to the role health and nutrition plays in gaming success.

Trainees will be introduced to the full spectrum of academic and career opportunities available through esports and their learning will be put to the test with and an end-of-week tournament.

Esports is a leisure activity with near limitless opportunities to boost transferable life skills. It is growing fast, with the European gaming sector set to exceed $1.5 billion by 2023, according to the Esports Ecosystem Report 2021, and a pipeline of fresh talent is vital.

Rachel Butterworth, Head of BaseStack, said: “We want to bring all the essential elements of digital culture and esports together under one roof and that’s exactly what we are doing with BaseStack.

“Łódź is a thriving centre of academic life and cultural change. It is already benefitting from a transformative urban regeneration programme. BaseStack will play an important and active role in supporting this revitalisation and creating a dynamic community.”
